Mr. Macaroni Reveals Financial Struggles, Thanks Don Jazzy, Osimhen
Nigerian actor, comedian and content creator, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has revealed that he went through a prolonged period of severe financial difficulty, during which he borrowed money, sought help from several people and at one point felt he was close to giving up.
The entertainer made the revelation in a post on X on Saturday, September 26, 2026, while reflecting on a wave of messages from people who recently shared stories about how he had helped them financially or supported them at different points in their lives.
Mr. Macaroni said the accounts affected him deeply because he could not remember many of the acts of kindness people were recounting.
He explained that the messages made him emotional and prompted him to reflect on his own difficult experiences, particularly the assistance he received when he was struggling to ask others for help.
The comedian said he had always been more comfortable giving than receiving, largely because people assumed that his public profile meant he was financially comfortable.
He disclosed that even when he borrowed money, he made a habit of repaying it, sometimes with interest, whether or not the lender demanded it.
However, according to him, the situation changed dramatically in recent years when he found himself in circumstances where he had no choice but to seek assistance from people around him.
“I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance. I have also always found it difficult to ask for help,” he said.
Mr. Macaroni said the financial difficulties subjected him to experiences he struggled to understand and forced him to seek help from different quarters.
He described the period as one of the most difficult chapters of his life, saying he eventually reached a point where he felt he had exhausted the options available to him.
“I was tested in ways I couldn’t understand these past few years. I asked for help everywhere and anywhere I could think of and I was on the verge of giving it all up!” he wrote.
‘God Used One Person To Settle All I Owed’
One of the biggest revelations in Mr. Macaroni’s account was that an unnamed individual repeatedly came to his rescue and eventually helped him settle all his outstanding debts.
The entertainer deliberately withheld the person’s identity, explaining that the individual would be unhappy if he publicly disclosed his name.
According to Mr. Macaroni, the person’s intervention was not a one-off gesture. He said the assistance came repeatedly at different points during his financial difficulties and eventually helped him overcome his obligations.
“God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again!”
He expressed gratitude to the unnamed benefactor for restoring his hope at a time when he believed everything was falling apart.
Mr. Macaroni said the experience had changed his understanding of both giving and receiving, particularly because he had spent much of his life being the person others turned to for assistance.
Mr. Macaroni Thanks Don Jazzy, Osimhen
Beyond the unnamed benefactor, Mr. Macaroni acknowledged several people within his close circle whom he said stood by him during the difficult period.
He referred to the group affectionately as “Mr. Macaroni & Friends” and thanked them for remaining supportive when he needed them.
Among those he specifically mentioned were music executive, Don Jazzy, Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji.
Mr. Macaroni singled out Don Jazzy for particular appreciation, revealing that the music executive had supported him since his university days.
He thanked Don Jazzy not only for the assistance he had personally received but also for the support the music executive has extended to other people.
He similarly expressed appreciation to Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji, describing them as people who had supported him during challenging moments.
The disclosure has generated renewed attention around Mr. Macaroni’s reputation for helping others, particularly after stories from people who had benefited from his generosity resurfaced online.
Veteran Nollywood actor, Peter Fatomilola, recently recounted how Mr. Macaroni gave him financial assistance after a film shoot and later paid him ₦1 million for a single scene in another production.
Those accounts contributed to a broader conversation, with several people sharing their own experiences of Mr. Macaroni’s generosity.
Reacting to the stories, the comedian said many of the things people were thanking him for were so long ago that he could no longer remember them.
He suggested that the outpouring of appreciation had caused him to reconsider how he viewed his own recent struggles.
Rather than concentrating solely on what he had lost, Mr. Macaroni said the situation reminded him to be grateful for surviving the difficult period.
‘I Don’t Regret Helping People’
Despite acknowledging the severity of his financial challenges, Mr. Macaroni said the experience had not made him regret helping others.
The entertainer maintained that he would continue to value the opportunities he had to make other people’s lives better, regardless of whether those gestures were eventually reciprocated.
“I don’t and will never regret anything I have ever done in my life to make the lives of others better in even the smallest way possible,” he said.
He added that the difficult years had taught him important lessons and given him a clearer perspective on life.
Mr. Macaroni said he was now in a better place and was concentrating on learning, personal growth and activities that make him happy.
He also said he was grateful for the trials he experienced because, in retrospect, they had provided him with a level of clarity he might not otherwise have gained.
The latest disclosure adds another dimension to the public image of Mr. Macaroni, who has built a career not only around comedy and acting but also around social advocacy and philanthropy.
In 2022, the entertainer donated ₦500,000 to PEFTI Film Institute, his former school, as a gesture of appreciation for the training he received there.
He has also been publicly involved in civic activism. In February 2021, police arrested Mr. Macaroni and other protesters during the #OccupyLekkiTollgate demonstration in Lagos over plans surrounding the reopening of the Lekki tollgate.
Reflecting on his recent experiences, Mr. Macaroni’s message ultimately centred on gratitude, friendship and the importance of extending kindness even when life becomes difficult.
He ended his message by expressing appreciation for the people who stood by him during his most challenging moments.
His account has since prompted renewed discussion online about the often-hidden financial pressures faced by public figures and the importance of having trusted people to turn to during periods of personal difficulty.
