Singer Davido’s logistics manager, Isreal DMW, has appeared to take a swipe at the Edo State Government after sharing videos showing the condition of some roads in Benin City, the State capital.
Isreal posted the videos on Instagram on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, drawing attention to sections of the city where road surfaces appeared badly damaged and poorly maintained.
Although he did not directly mention Governor Monday Okpebholo or the Edo State Government in the post, the timing of the publication has sparked speculation that the videos were connected to the recent public disagreement involving his boss, Afrobeats star, Davido, and the Edo State Government.
The development comes only days after a senior aide to Governor Okpebholo, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, made controversial comments warning Davido against performing in Edo State.
Chukwu, who serves as the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, had stated in a video that Davido should not expect to perform in the State for the remainder of the administration.
His comments followed an escalating dispute between Davido and Governor Okpebholo, which began during the build-up to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
Davido had publicly criticised Okpebholo after the Edo Governor made comments about Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle. The singer subsequently shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on his Instagram Story and later defended his decision not to apologise for the post.
The dispute intensified after Chukwu released his video directed at Davido.
In the video, the Governor’s aide said the singer had been banned from performing in Edo and warned that he should not expect to return to the State for the remainder of Okpebholo’s tenure. Reports also quoted Chukwu as saying some Edo youths were unhappy with Davido and could react negatively if he returned.
However, the Edo State Government quickly distanced itself from the statement.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, said the Government had not banned Davido from entering or performing in Edo State. The clarification effectively separated the official position of the Government from Chukwu’s earlier remarks.
Chukwu subsequently apologised and withdrew his earlier comments.
In his apology, the Governor’s aide explained that he had spoken in his personal capacity and had not acted on the instruction or authorisation of Governor Okpebholo. He apologised to the Governor, Edo residents and Davido, while also telling the singer that he was welcome in the State.
Against that backdrop, Isreal DMW’s latest social media post has attracted attention because of his close association with Davido.
The videos he shared focused on roads in Benin City, including the popular Ring Road area and parts of the Government Reserved Area, commonly known as G.R.A.
The footage appeared to highlight sections of the roads that were in poor condition, with visible deterioration on the road surfaces.
Isreal did not accompany the footage with a lengthy political statement. Rather, the decision to publicly showcase the roads has been interpreted by some observers as a subtle response to the recent controversy between Davido’s camp and the Edo State Government.
The timing has particularly fueled the interpretation, coming shortly after the Government-aide controversy and the subsequent apology.
However, there is no direct statement from Isreal DMW confirming that the videos were intended as a response to the dispute. His post, therefore, should not automatically be presented as an explicit attack on Governor Okpebholo or an official criticism of the State Government.
The road condition highlighted in the videos has also emerged amid ongoing discussions about infrastructure and road projects in Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo has recently inspected ongoing road construction projects and assured residents and contractors that his administration would continue funding road projects across the State. The Governor has reportedly promised that residents should begin to see noticeable progress before Christmas.
The Edo State Government also issued a statement on Tuesday defending its road construction efforts, saying roads leading into the State had been awarded to contractors for rehabilitation.
According to the statement, heavy rainfall had affected the pace of construction because work could not proceed effectively under persistent wet conditions. The Government cited the Benin-Ore Road as one of the projects affected by the weather.
The contrasting developments have therefore placed Isreal DMW’s road videos in the middle of an already heated public conversation about Edo State, its infrastructure and the recent controversy surrounding Davido.
Isreal, whose real name is Israel Afeare, is widely known for his close working relationship with Davido and has frequently defended or publicly supported the singer during controversies involving the music star.
His latest post has consequently generated interest among social media users, with some interpreting the footage as a message directed at the State Government, while others may simply view it as a commentary on the condition of roads in Benin City.
The development also adds another layer to the recent back-and-forth between Davido’s camp and officials or associates of the Edo State Government.
While the initial warning against Davido has now been withdrawn, the controversy has continued to generate reactions online.
For now, Isreal DMW has not expressly stated that his videos were posted as retaliation for the comments made by the Governor’s aide. The connection remains an interpretation based largely on the timing of the post and his relationship with Davido.
The Edo State Government, meanwhile, maintains that Davido has not been banned from entering or performing in the State, while Chukwu has apologised for his earlier remarks and welcomed the singer back to Edo.
The road videos shared by Isreal DMW are therefore likely to keep the conversation alive, particularly as debate continues over the condition of roads in Benin City and the Government’s ongoing infrastructure projects.
