Nigerians in Morocco Rally for Better Super Falcons Support

Nigerians living in Morocco have called for stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Embassy in Rabat, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and Nigerian community organisations to improve support for the Super Falcons as the team continues its campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The appeal comes amid growing excitement surrounding Nigeria’s participation in the continental championship, with members of the Nigerian diaspora saying better coordination is needed to create a more organised and visible support system for the country’s women’s national football team.

According to community members, closer cooperation among the Nigerian Embassy, the NFF and recognised Nigerian associations would make it easier to mobilise fans, coordinate transportation to match venues, share timely information, and ensure Nigerian supporters are well represented inside stadiums throughout the tournament.

They argued that while many Nigerians residing in Morocco are eager to cheer the Super Falcons, the absence of structured coordination has made it difficult to maximise fan participation during matches.

The group maintained that a unified approach involving football authorities, diplomatic officials and community leaders would strengthen morale within the team and create an atmosphere capable of inspiring the players as they pursue another continental title.

Supporters said football has always united Nigerians regardless of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation, adding that international tournaments provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s unity and passion on the global stage.

They also stressed that regular engagement between embassy officials, the Nigeria Football Federation and Nigerian community leaders should begin well before major competitions to allow for proper planning and execution of fan activities.

Such early preparations, they noted, would help identify volunteers, coordinate logistics, provide supporters with match information and encourage greater attendance at games involving the Super Falcons.

Members of the Nigerian community believe Morocco’s sizeable Nigerian population represents a valuable asset that can be fully harnessed to provide strong vocal support for the team throughout the competition.

Beyond cheering from the stands, they said coordinated fan engagement would also project a positive image of Nigeria while strengthening relationships among Nigerians living abroad.

The Super Falcons remain Africa’s most successful women’s football team, having won more Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles than any other nation. Their consistent dominance has made them one of the continent’s most respected national teams and a source of pride for millions of Nigerians.

As the tournament progresses, expectations remain high that the Super Falcons will once again challenge for continental honours.

Supporters in Morocco insist they are ready to play their part by filling stadiums with Nigeria’s green-and-white colours, songs and chants, provided there is better communication and coordination from the relevant authorities.

They believe improved collaboration between the Nigerian Embassy, the Nigeria Football Federation and community organisations would not only enhance fan mobilisation but also give the players the encouragement needed during crucial matches.

The call also reflects the increasingly important role Nigerians in the diaspora continue to play whenever the country’s national teams compete abroad. Overseas supporters regularly organise gatherings, cultural displays and matchday activities to ensure Nigerian athletes enjoy home-like support even outside the country.

Community leaders said these efforts would become even more effective if they were backed by coordinated planning involving all major stakeholders.

With decisive matches still to come at WAFCON 2026, Nigerians living in Morocco hope their appeal will encourage stronger partnerships that will ultimately benefit both the Super Falcons and the country’s image on the continental stage.

For many supporters, success goes beyond victories on the pitch. They believe that united support from Nigerians everywhere can inspire the Super Falcons to greater achievements while showcasing the country’s resilience, unity and unwavering passion for football.
