Ahmed Ajibola, the former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, has announced his resignation from the pro-Tinubu support group, dismissing reports that he was removed from office and insisting that his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu remains intact.
Ajibola, popularly known as General H, said his decision to leave the organisation was voluntary and driven by personal convictions about the direction of the Movement’s leadership in Oyo State. He stressed that his exit should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of support for President Tinubu or the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The clarification followed social media reports alleging that he had been sacked from his position and had made derogatory remarks against President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu and other leaders of the Movement. Ajibola described the claims as false, malicious and misleading.
According to him, he was neither dismissed nor suspended, maintaining that he resigned willingly after declining two fresh appointments within the organisation.
Ajibola disclosed that he was appointed Coordinator of Directorate Affairs for Oyo State on August 1, 2026, before receiving another appointment from the national leadership on August 5 as Coordinator of Stakeholder Engagement for the South-West structure.
He said he turned down both appointments before submitting his resignation.
“If I had truly been sacked, where is the letter of dismissal or termination? None exists because none was ever issued,” he said.
Explaining the reasons behind his decision, Ajibola said leadership should be guided by fairness, transparency, competence, loyalty and mutual respect.
He noted that recent developments within the Oyo State Chapter convinced him that he could no longer continue in the Movement in good conscience.
According to him, some decisions taken under the new leadership failed to reflect the values that originally inspired many members to commit their time and resources to building the organisation.
Despite his resignation, Ajibola reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu.
He said his support for the President and the Renewed Hope Agenda remains unchanged, adding that he would continue promoting the achievements of the administration.
The former Coordinator also pledged his support for Tinubu’s expected re-election campaign in 2027, insisting that leaving the City Boy Movement does not amount to abandoning the President.
Ajibola further denied making insulting comments against President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement or members of the group’s national leadership.
He challenged those making the allegations to produce evidence, saying the claims were fabricated to create a false narrative around his resignation.
Reflecting on his time in office, he thanked members of the Movement across Oyo State for their dedication and sacrifices, expressing pride in what they accomplished together.
He said positions may come and go, but integrity, character and service remain lasting values.
Ajibola added that he chose to leave with dignity, a clear conscience and appreciation for everyone who supported him throughout his tenure.
In a separate message shared on social media, he said true leadership sometimes requires walking away from situations that no longer align with one’s principles and values.
His resignation comes at a time when political support groups across Nigeria are restructuring ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections. Although he has ended his role in the City Boy Movement, Ajibola maintained that his commitment to President Tinubu’s administration and its policies remains firm, insisting that his political convictions have not changed.
