Former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away in Lagos at the age of 62.
The news of his passing was confirmed by the Adeosun family in an official statement released on Thursday, revealing that he died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, after a lifetime devoted to his Christian faith, his family and service to humanity.
Signed by Reverend C.A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, the statement expressed deep grief while affirming the family’s unwavering faith in God.
According to the statement, the family accepted the painful loss with complete submission to God’s will, describing Anthony Adeosun as an accomplished businessman, devoted Christian and compassionate family man whose legacy would continue to inspire those who knew him.
The late businessman was widely remembered for his honesty, generosity and commitment to Christian values. His relatives said his character reflected integrity in both his personal and professional life, earning him admiration from friends, business associates and members of the wider community.
They noted that throughout his life, Anthony Adeosun remained committed to hard work and consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication to God, his immediate family and society.
The statement portrayed him as a man who believed strongly in service above self, adding that his kindness and humility touched countless lives over the years.
Family members said he built lasting relationships through genuine compassion and a willingness to support others whenever the need arose.

Although she later resigned from office in 2018 amid controversy surrounding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate, she has remained one of Nigeria’s most recognised former finance ministers.
