Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, has passed away following a prolonged illness, bringing to an end the life of one of the State’s veteran political figures.
Aliyu, who served as Deputy Governor under former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari between 2007 and 2015, reportedly died in Sokoto.
His death has drawn tributes from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who described the late statesman as a remarkable leader whose contributions to the State and the nation would not be forgotten.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the Governor said Aliyu dedicated his life to selfless service, integrity and the advancement of Kebbi State.
Governor Idris noted that the former Deputy Governor earned widespread admiration during his years as a career civil servant and later as Deputy Governor through his humility, honesty and unwavering commitment to public service.
According to the Governor, Aliyu’s legacy of exemplary leadership and dedication to the welfare of the people will continue to inspire generations.
“His invaluable contributions to the development of our State and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of our people will continue to inspire generations,” Governor Idris said.
He prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort his family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State as they mourn the painful loss.
