Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has expressed appreciation to supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for their commitment and loyalty, saying their dedication has helped establish the party as a major force in Nigeria’s opposition politics.

Addressing party members after recent political activities, Dickson thanked supporters across the country for standing firmly with the NDC despite the challenges often associated with opposition politics. He said the party’s progress reflects the determination of members who believe in its vision for democratic governance and national development.

According to the senator, the continued growth of the NDC is the result of collective sacrifice, grassroots mobilisation and the unwavering commitment of supporters who have remained focused on strengthening the party.

Dickson encouraged members to stay united and continue expanding the party’s reach across the country. He stressed that discipline, patience and teamwork remain essential for any political movement seeking lasting success.

He said opposition parties play an important role in every democratic system by promoting accountability, encouraging constructive debate and providing citizens with alternative political choices.

The former governor also praised party leaders, officials and volunteers for their efforts in building the organisation and attracting new supporters. He noted that their commitment has contributed to the party’s increasing visibility and influence in Nigeria’s political landscape.

While acknowledging that political competition comes with challenges, Dickson urged members not to lose focus. Instead, he called on supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the party’s ideals.

He further appealed for unity within the party, warning against actions capable of creating internal divisions. According to him, solidarity and cooperation will be critical as the NDC continues to strengthen its position across the country.

Expressing optimism about the future, Dickson said more Nigerians are beginning to identify with the party’s vision, adding that its growing support demonstrates the desire for a stronger and more effective opposition.

Speaking to supporters, Dickson said, “I sincerely thank all our supporters and members for your steadfast commitment, loyalty and sacrifices. Your belief in our shared vision continues to strengthen our resolve.”

He also declared, “The Nigeria Democratic Congress has become the biggest opposition party in the country, and together we will continue to build a stronger platform for all Nigerians.”

The senator concluded by urging members to continue engaging with Nigerians peacefully while promoting the party’s message at the grassroots. He expressed confidence that sustained unity, commitment and consistent engagement would further strengthen the NDC’s role in Nigeria’s democratic process in the years ahead.
