Isaac Fayose: I Spent Big for Obi, Got No Appreciation
Businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has expressed disappointment over what he described as Peter Obi’s failure to acknowledge the support he gave the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, despite the personal sacrifices he said he made.
Fayose made the remarks in a video released on Friday, July 17, 2026, while responding to criticism that followed his recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, he invested both time and money in Obi’s presidential bid during the 2023 general election but has never received a word of appreciation from the former Anambra State Governor.
“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest,” he said.
Fayose lamented that despite identifying with the Obidient Movement, Obi had never personally reached out to thank him for his contributions.
“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?” he asked.
He also criticised some members of the Obidient Movement, accusing them of expecting others to fight their political battles.
“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves,” he said.
Fayose stated that although he is a Yoruba man who admires both President Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu, it does not prevent him from supporting another political cause.
“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy,” he said.
He further declared that he could decide to campaign for President Tinubu in future elections if he wished.
“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it,” he added.
His latest comments come just days after he addressed the backlash generated by a viral video showing him singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand” alongside Seyi Tinubu.
Responding in a video shared on Instagram, Fayose dismissed claims that he had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that his relationship with the President’s son had not altered his political affiliation.
He disclosed that he spent time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and others at a gathering where they discussed politics and other issues before ending the evening with prayers.
“I spent quality time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and the rest of us last night. We discussed politics, we discussed everything discussable. When I was leaving, Seyi said, ‘Uncle Isaac, let me walk you to your car,’” he said.
Fayose explained that they also prayed together before parting ways, including offering prayers for President Tinubu, stressing that praying for the President should not be interpreted as joining the APC.
“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101 per cent Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he said.
He also dismissed allegations that he had accepted money to switch political allegiance, maintaining that politics should never destroy family relationships or friendships.
According to Fayose, he still considers the Tinubu family close to his own and believes political engagement should be conducted without bitterness or hostility.
