Ooni of Ife Welcomes Baby Girl, Months After Arrival of Twin Princes
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of a baby girl, bringing fresh celebrations to the royal household just months after welcoming twin princes.
The revered traditional ruler shared the joyful news on Sunday through a post on his verified Facebook page, where he expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery and confirmed that both mother and child are in excellent health.
The newborn princess is the daughter of the monarch and his wife, Olori Oluwatosin.
Announcing the birth, the Ooni described the arrival of the baby as a divine blessing for the House of Oduduwa and offered prayers for her future.
“To God Almighty be all the glory for His unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin. May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace and honour. We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health.”
The announcement quickly attracted congratulatory messages from admirers, traditional institutions and well-wishers, who celebrated the latest addition to one of Nigeria’s most prominent royal families.
The birth comes barely three months after the monarch announced the arrival of twin princes with another of his wives, Olori Mariam Ajibola. At the time, the Ooni also thanked God for the successful delivery and confirmed that both the queen and the twins were in good health.
With the latest birth, the royal family has welcomed three children within a relatively short period, marking another significant milestone for the House of Oduduwa.
Oba Ogunwusi, who ascended the throne in 2015, remains one of Nigeria’s most influential traditional rulers. Beyond his cultural and spiritual responsibilities, he is widely recognised for promoting Yoruba heritage, national unity and youth development initiatives.
The monarch’s family life has often attracted public attention. Following the end of his marriage to former queen, Olori Naomi, he married several queens in 2022, including Olori Mariam Anako, Olori Elizabeth Akinmuda, Olori Tobiloba Phillips, Olori Ashley Adegoke, Olori Ronke Ademiluyi and Olori Temitope Adesegun.
While marking his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, the Ooni explained that his marriages were influenced by the traditional customs and heritage attached to the ancient throne of Ile-Ife.
According to him, although he had hoped to make certain personal changes, the responsibilities and longstanding traditions of the royal institution guided his decisions.
The arrival of the baby princess has once again brought joy to the palace, with the royal family expressing gratitude for the safe delivery and celebrating another chapter in the continuing legacy of the House of Oduduwa.
