Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants after the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The approval was announced on Wednesday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, in a statement made available through the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the approval forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
It recalled that between June 8 and July 17, 2026, the FCT Administration commissioned and flagged off more than 30 projects to commemorate the President’s third year in office.
Ezeh described the promotions as a reflection of the FCT Administration’s commitment to staff welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He disclosed that promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior staff wrote theirs on July 10.
The Commission Chairman commended Wike for providing the necessary support that ensured the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He also revealed that the Minister had directed the Commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise so that qualified officers would be promoted without unnecessary delays.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory. For us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr. President,” Ezeh said.
He explained that the directive demonstrates the administration’s resolve to match ongoing infrastructure development across the FCT with improved staff welfare and career advancement opportunities.
According to him, the move will ensure civil servants also benefit from the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration.
Ezeh praised FCT civil servants for maintaining peace, orderliness and professionalism throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged those expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to sustain the same level of discipline.
He also appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee for its cooperation and support, which he said contributed to the successful completion of the exercise.
The Commission Chairman advised officers preparing for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin their preparations early, reminding them that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, highly competitive and dependent on the availability of vacancies.
