Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has unveiled the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The Governor announced Adams’ nomination on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, saying the decision followed “wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers” ahead of the upcoming election.
In a post shared on his X handle, Sani said: “After wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers, I am delighted to announce the nomination of Mr. Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, as my running mate in the 2027 Governorship Election.”
The choice of Adams marks the first time in seven years that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State will present a Christian as its deputy governorship candidate, after the Party’s Muslim-Muslim tickets in the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections.
Sani said the nomination represents his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equal representation across Kaduna State.
“This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging,” the Governor said.
He added that the decision reflects his belief in rewarding competence, integrity and dedicated public service.
Describing Adams as an accomplished public servant, institution builder and respected tax administrator, Sani said his leadership at KADIRS had strengthened Kaduna’s fiscal capacity through reforms focused on improving internally generated revenue and public financial management.
“Through innovation, transparency & professionalism, he has helped strengthen our fiscal capacity, enabling Government to invest even more in the education of our children, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture & other critical sectors that improve the lives of our people,” Sani said.
The Governor further stated that Adams’ nomination aligns with his vision of building a united, peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State where merit, competence and character remain the foundation of leadership.
Adams is recognised for his contributions to tax administration and institutional reforms, with his nomination expected to generate political interest as preparations for the 2027 governorship election continue.
Further details on the formal presentation of the APC ticket and other activities ahead of the election are expected to be announced later.
