Bwacha Unveils Running Mate for Taraba Race

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has named Aminu Zakari as his running mate, describing the choice as a strategic step towards building a stronger and more inclusive campaign.

Bwacha announced the decision in a statement issued on Friday, July 17, 2026, saying the selection came after extensive consultations with Party leaders, traditional and religious rulers, youth and women groups, political associates and other stakeholders across Taraba State.

According to the former senator, the choice of Zakari reflects the campaign’s renewed commitment to building “a united, prosperous, inclusive and secure Taraba State.”

Bwacha described his running mate as a seasoned civil engineer and procurement professional with more than 14 years of public service experience, adding that Zakari possesses the competence, integrity and experience required to help deliver the administration’s vision for the State.

“Our ticket represents unity, inclusiveness, competence and a shared commitment to moving Taraba State forward. We are determined to provide transparent, accountable and people-centred leadership that will unlock the immense potential of our State, restore confidence in governance and deliver meaningful development across all 16 local government areas,” Bwacha said.

He also appreciated Party leaders, stakeholders and supporters for their contributions throughout the selection process and urged members of the PDP to remain united as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.

Bwacha expressed confidence that, with the support of the people of Taraba State, the PDP would emerge victorious at the polls and reclaim what he described as its “stolen mandate.”
