American singer, Chris Brown, has pleaded guilty to affray over a violent altercation at a nightclub in London that left a man injured after being struck with a bottle.

The 37-year-old R&B star entered the guilty plea at Southwark Crown Court on Friday in connection with the 2023 incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.

According to Sky News, Brown admitted the affray charge but denied allegations of grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm against Abraham Diaw.

Prosecutors have since dropped those charges.

Brown is expected to be sentenced on October 26.

Prosecutors told the court that the confrontation was captured on surveillance cameras outside the nightclub.

Brown allegedly struck Diaw twice with a glass bottle before his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, punched him.

The victim was also kicked while lying on the floor and was later treated at St. Mary’s Hospital for injuries to his head and knee.

Brown appeared in court wearing a tan suit, gold-rimmed sunglasses and a St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap. He was accompanied by security guards.

Under his bail conditions, the singer was permitted to continue with his world tour, provided he surrendered his passport upon arriving in each country and paid a £5 million security fee. He was granted bail again on Friday.

Brown rose to fame at the age of 16 after the release of his 2005 breakout single, Run It!, under Jive Records. His early career earned him comparisons to Michael Jackson.

Born and raised in Tappahannock, Virginia, Brown developed a passion for singing and dancing before being discovered by local music industry scouts.
