Wike Travels to UK for Daughter’s Graduation as Family Keeps Private Life Low-Key

July 21, 2026 • 3 min read

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has travelled to the United Kingdom to attend the graduation ceremony of his daughter, according to information shared by members of his media team.

The former Rivers State governor reportedly departed Nigeria alongside his sons and was accompanied by Marcus Nle Ejii, Executive Director of Projects at the South Development Commission.

Although the trip has attracted widespread attention on social media, little public information is available about Wike’s daughter, reflecting the family’s longstanding preference for keeping aspects of their private life away from the spotlight.

Unlike some children of prominent politicians who maintain active online profiles, Wike’s daughter, widely identified in previous public appearances as Jazmyne Nyesom-Wike, has maintained a relatively low public profile. Available records show that she has attended several family events abroad, including graduation ceremonies involving her brothers.

Earlier this year, members of the Wike family travelled to London to celebrate the graduation of Joaquin Wike from King’s College London. Reports from the event also indicated that Jazmyne was present alongside her parents and siblings.

Publicly available information about her academic background remains limited. However, an online professional profile bearing her name links her to the United Kingdom and the University of Southampton, although no official confirmation has been issued regarding her course of study or the institution where the latest graduation ceremony is taking place.

The minister’s latest trip has once again highlighted the close educational ties between Nigeria’s political elite and universities in the United Kingdom. However, as of the time of reporting, neither Wike’s office nor the institutions involved had released additional details about the graduation.

The Wike family has consistently maintained a reserved approach to personal matters, choosing to keep much of their private life outside public discourse despite the minister’s high-profile role in national politics.
