Nigerian music superstar Davido has added another major honour to his growing list of achievements after his album 5ive was named Album of the Year at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

The recognition places Davido among the biggest winners of this year’s ceremony and further highlights the international reach of Nigerian music.

According to the official AFRIMMA 2026 results, 5ive emerged as the winner of the prestigious Album of the Year category, beating a competitive field of African projects from artists including Burna Boy, Amr Diab, Didi B, DJ Maphorisa and XDuppy, Kelvin Momo, Himra, El Grande Toto and Tinariwen.

The victory gives Davido another significant award for 5ive, an album that has continued to strengthen his presence across the African and global music landscape.

Davido was also among the artists recognised in several major categories at AFRIMMA 2026, while Congolese star Fally Ipupa took home the coveted Artist of the Year award.

The 2026 AFRIMMA results also saw several other Nigerian stars earn major recognition. Ruger won Best Male West Africa, Tems took Best Female West Africa, while Victony claimed the AFRIMMA Fans Choice Award.

For Davido, the latest achievement adds another chapter to a career that has consistently positioned him at the centre of African music’s global expansion.

With 5ive now officially recognised as AFRIMMA’s Album of the Year, the singer has once again demonstrated the staying power of his music and his influence within the African entertainment industry.
